Publisher: Simon Pulse

Stay Tonight. Stay Forever.

When Audrey Casella arrives for an unplanned stay at the grand Hotel Ruby, she’s grateful for the detour. Just months after their mother’s death, Audrey and her brother, Daniel, are on their way to live with their grandmother, dumped on the doorstep of a DNA-matched stranger because their father is drowning in his grief.

Audrey and her family only plan to stay the night, but life in the Ruby can be intoxicating, extending their stay as it provides endless distractions—including handsome guest Elias Lange, who sends Audrey’s pulse racing. However, the hotel proves to be as strange as it is beautiful. Nightly fancy affairs in the ballroom are invitation only, and Audrey seems to be the one guest who doesn't have an invite. Instead, she joins the hotel staff on the rooftop, catching whispers about the hotel’s dark past.

The more Audrey learns about the new people she's met, the more her curiosity grows. She’s torn in different directions—the pull of her past with its overwhelming loss, the promise of a future that holds little joy, and an in-between life in a place that is so much more than it seems…

Question:
Apart from what's your WoW this week, which I always ask *wink*
What do you think of the cover?
I really like it but I see HUGE similarities between it, and the books in the THE PROGRAM series. Same font, same feel of the person looking face on.
I'm not a huge HUGE fan of this overall branding thing that's happening a lot these days. The author name in a certain font, yes shows the branding and such…but I feel like each series should stand on it's own – be an individual.
What do you think?

  1. I'm so with you on the cover consideration. I knew who the author was without seeing it on the bottom of the cover there. I'm not a huge fan. If the series / book is in a different universe altogether, I don't understand the benefit of making them look the same. I mean, yes, branding but that seems too trivial a reason to me. That being said, I'm nonetheless excited about this book, too and am looking forward to it.

    1. My thoughts exactly, if I read a book a liked the author, I'm going to take note of the name (even if I wasn't a blogger or constant reader) I don't need matching covers to bring me in - this would only make me think that I am getting something similar to the last thing I read with that kind of cover, and in essence confuse me - again - especially if I'm not a big reader who understands these things.

  2. I agree. I'm all for keeping the font for the author's name the same but not the overall look and feel of the cover if it's not part of the series. Each one should stand on its own. Completely separate from the others.
