Billy grinned. “Oh, New York,” he whispered. “We’re gonna have so much fun.”

I Hunt Killers introduced the world to Jazz, the son of history’s most infamous serial killer, Billy Dent.
In an effort to prove murder didn’t run in the family, Jazz teamed with the police in the small town of Lobo’s Nod to solve a deadly case. And now, when a determined New York City detective comes knocking on Jazz’s door asking for help, he can’t say no. The Hat-Dog Killer has the Big Apple–and its police force–running scared. So Jazz and his girlfriend, Connie, hop on a plane to the big city and get swept up in a killer’s murderous game.

GAME is so perfectly masterminded that it makes me worry a bit about the safety of Barry Lyga's loved ones. He writes the "unbalanced, serial killer" just a little too well…not to mention "emotionally screwed up, snarky child of a serial killer" pretty freaking spot on too.  O_o

You'll noticed I used the word "masterminded" and not written. There's a very good reason for this. This book does not feel like it was born from a plot bunny, it feels 100% like it was planned out by the darkest of characters.

You figure out what's going on, only when the author wants you to, no matter how good you might think you are at figuring out thrillers. It's paced just right so you have that constant slow reveal, that slow drip of information that keeps you up at night, turning pages. The game with build around you, little bits of information coming at you – will you be able to figure out the rules and the players before Jasper? Or before too many bodies pile up?

This book was like crack and I was an addict.

  1. Wow! That sounds really good! I've been seeing the series all over, but haven't broken down and gotten any of the books yet. Am tempted now, though!
