It's time to choose sides....
On the surface, Sorry-in-the-Vale is a sleepy English town. But Kami Glass knows the truth. Sorry-in-the-Vale is full of magic. In the old days, the Lynburn family ruled with fear, terrifying the people into submission in order to kill for blood and power. Now the Lynburns are back, and Rob Lynburn is gathering sorcerers so that the town can return to the old ways.
But Rob and his followers aren’t the only sorcerers in town. A decision must be made: pay the blood sacrifice, or fight. For Kami, this means more than just choosing between good and evil. With her link to Jared Lynburn severed, she’s now free to love anyone she chooses. But who should that be?
A darkly humorous take on Gothic romance, Sarah Rees Brennan's Lynburn Legacy weaves together the tale of a heroine desperate to protect those she loves, two boys hoping to be saved, and the magical forces that will shape their destiny.

About 40 minutes after I finished UNSPOKEN, as the wee hours of night approached I downloaded UNTOLD, knowing I could not make it until the next day to start. As it was, teeter-tottering over it for 40 minutes was a masterful show of restraint on my part, if I do say so myself.

I fell asleep that night, clutching my Kobo and had nightmares about scarecrows. Thanks for that Sarah. I also may or may not have drooled on it a bit, but I'm not ashamed.

UNTOLD continues to torture us as Jared and Kami no longer have their link, and what was left of their friendship has jumped ship like a desperate rat. Ash steps more into a "kicked-puppy" role now as his mother hates him, his father hates him, and so he prefects the sulk and whine. Oddly though, it's not that annoying sulk and whine you might be thinking of. It's like a gorgeous blond, manly kind. Although a few times his over-eagarness to help makes me want to slap him and shout "Know your roll!".

Kami loves Jared, but thinking he hates her with the fire of a thousands suns, she keeps this tid-bit between herself and you, the reader. Jared loves Kami, but in his attempt to protect her and also because he's half blind, thinks that Kami wants nothing to do with him, he continues on his own kicked-puppy journey, also with the sulking. But no whining. And Holly loves everyone.

Maybe we should rename these books "Kicked Puppies" – just a thought.

Back on track here – the little investigative team has grown by a few friends, and even a foe (that's now a friend…or is he) and as the residents of Sorry-in-the-Vale are forced to choose between following Lillian or that bag of dicks, Rob, things start getting pretty desperate. It's all rather terrifying actually. It doesn't help that a good portion of the people in Sorry-in-the-Vale are actually sorcerers as well, but since it's never spoken about no one really knows who is who. Branding them with a giant 'S' on their shirts would just make it look like they lived in a town full of Superman wannabes. Basically, the team never really know who's going to magically make that garbage can blow up in front of them, or start their hair on fire – or more importantly, who to trust and who not to trust.

The ending was, at first okay for me. I figured, being all knowing and what not – that things couldn't stay dire..they just couldn't. Book 3 would fix things even if that didn't happen until the end. I made the mistake of telling my friend Leah this – to which she responded with the first line of book 3's synopsis – and then I flew into a fit of rage, hyperventilating and eventually rocked back and forth in the corner until I fell asleep.

I haven't been desperate for a book in ages. But at this point I'm willing to trade anything for someone who has a copy to share with me!

My favorite lines from the book:

- “I don't mean to cast a dark shadow on all your hopes and dreams, except of course I do, because that is who I am. I'm a dream ruiner.”

- “Don't be silly," she said. "I don't want us to chase people with scissors. And I don't want us to bite them. That's assault. All I want to do is steal their stuff."

- “Once more a good man is led astray by the undeniable sexiness of evil.”
