Erin Easter was now Erin Alderman, because Erin Alderman was dead.
In the second installment of this USA Today bestselling series, follow protagonist Erin, a high school senior in tiny Blackwell, Oklahoma. After a terrible accident leaves two classmates dead, Erin learns that she was switched at birth. Shortly after, she moves into the home of her true parents, Sam and Julianne Alderman, transforming Erin over night from pariah of Blackwell High School, to the only child of one of the most affluent couples in town.
Also being pursued by her childhood crush, Weston Gates, the dream she once had is now reality. But when Erin stumbles upon secrets that gives her the answers she’s been searching for, she also finds a truth she never wanted to know.

When I was in 7th grade, my teacher gave us all these blank hardcover books. We were supposed to write and illustrate our own story. Mine was about this girl, who looked a lot like me, who went to live with new parents because of a circumstance I can't quite recall. I loaded her room with all the things I would never have as the daughter of a single dad on an extreme budget. Of course in my story my brother was Joey McIntire, and if you don't know who he is, then damn I am old!

HAPPENSTANCE 2 feels like Jamie reached into my head and pulled out this long forgotten dream and wrote it in a way that only she can. Both covering all my childhood wants and my adult needs. It's like coming home, comfort mixed with pain and struggle.

Of course my story was really nothing like HAPPENSTANCE, other than the girl and the stuff, that fairy-tale after a horror story. I mean I was 12 so how weird would it be if it was? But every time I read a part of the HAPPENSTANCE journey, I'm reminded of that first time I wrote a real story.

Enough about me, how about this chapter in Erin and Weston's life? As if the revelation that Erin Easter, is in fact not an Easter was not enough of a twist – just wait until you see what McGuire throws at you in Part 2. Weston and Erin's relationship is tested, unbelievable truths are revealed and more than once I want to shake Erin and scream "Are deaf, dumb AND blind!?"

HAPPENSTANCE 2 will end with the same kind of almost-cliff-hanger that HAPPENSTANCE 1 did. You have enough no info to not want to scream profanities at Jamie via Twitter, but still so little that you're wondering where in the heck is book 3 already.

If you've not started the HAPPENSTANCE series yet, I urge you to do so. They are novellas, so short and quick to read, but still full of everything we have come to love from our wonderful Mrs. McGuire!
