First things first – HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY Hannah Hart! My Drunk Kitchen A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut is available now, EVERYWHERE!

My Drunk Kitchen A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut
Author: Hannah Hart with forward by John Green
Release Date: August 12, 2014
Publisher: It Books
Rating: 5 Birds

One day, sad cubicle dweller and otherwise bored New York transplant Hannah Hart decided, as a joke, to make a fake cooking show for her friend back in California. She turned on the camera, pulled out some bread and cheese, and then, as one does, started drinking. (Doesn't everyone cook with a spoon in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other?) The video went viral and an online sensation was born.
My Drunk Kitchen includes recipes, stories, full color photos, and drawings to inspire your own culinary adventures in tipsy cooking. It is also a showcase for Hannah Hart's great comedic voice. Hannah offers key drink recommendations, cooking tips (like, remember to turn the oven off when you go to bed) and shares never-before-seen recipes such as:
The Hartwich (Knowledge is ingenuity! Learn from the past!) Can Bake (Inventing things is hard! You don't have to start from scratch!) Latke Shotkas (Plan ahead to avoid a night of dread!) Tiny Sandwiches (Size doesn't matter! Aim to satisfy.) Saltine Nachos (It's not about resources! It's about being resourceful.)
This is a book for anyone who believes they have what it takes to make a soufflé for the holiday party and show up the person who apparently has nothing better to do than bake things from scratch. It also recommends the drink you'll need to accompany any endeavor of this magnitude. In the end, My Drunk Kitchen may not be your go-to guide for your next dinner party . . . but it will make you laugh and drink . . . I mean think . . . about life.

You'd have to have been hiding under a falafel for the past several years to have no idea who Hannah Hart is. Her insanely funny (and ultimately informative) YouTube series My Drunk Kitchen, has had so many familiar faces on it – like John Green, Jamie Oliver, Sarah Louise Parker and more. Her YouTube channel is also filled with incredibly helpful (and ultimately funny) advice on everything from life, love and travel tips…

Now she takes things one step further, combining food and life by publishing My Drunk Kitchen A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut. I laughed, I nodded in agreement, I cringed and I nearly learned how to make a few things in the kitchen.

What you need to know is this isn't a self help book and it's not a cookbook. Not in direct terms any way. Will it help your life? More than likely. Are there directions on how to cook things in it? Yes…sort of.

Hannah's personality and fearlessness to say what most people are scared too, shines through in this awesome book. I read it (yes – read it) front to back in just an hour. Like I said, it is and isn't a cookbook.

You need to pick this book up – and buy a few copies, because it will make the perfect gift!!

Many of you are familiar with GISHWHES – the international scavenger hunt hosted by Misha Collins (Castiel on Supernatural) – well this year one of the items on the list was to get married or renew your vows dressed only in kitchenware, and the minister must be dressed as a ships captain.  That dress is a table cloth, napkins and paper plates – and my bouquet…oh yea – spatulas and spoons!

Since our anniversary is this month, my husband and I went for it and used a very special book for the (legally ordained minister!) to read from….Yep – My Drunk Kitchen seemed fitting with our attire! So thank you Hannah Hart for being apart of this day!
