Shay Remby arrives in Hollywood with $58 and a handmade knife, searching for her brother, Odin.
Odin’s a brilliant hacker but a bit of a loose cannon. He and a group of radical animal-rights activists hit a Singular Corp. research lab in Eugene, Oregon. The raid was a disaster, but Odin escaped with a set of highly encrypted flash drives and a post-surgical dog.
When Shay gets a frantic 3 a.m. phone call from Odin—talking about evidence of unspeakable experiments, and a ruthless corporation, and how he must hide—she’s concerned. When she gets a menacing visit from Singular’s security team, she knows: her brother’s a dead man walking.
What Singular doesn’t know—yet—is that 16-year-old Shay is every bit as ruthless as their security force, and she will burn Singular to the ground, if that’s what it takes to save her brother.

First things first – Happy Book Birthday to UNGAGED: THE SINGULAR MENACE! You can pick this title up right now at your local bookstore, and I really hope you do!

New York Times bestselling author John Sandford takes on Young Adult fiction with Michelle Cook with this fantastically action-packed novel that will keep you flipping pages long into the night. This book will get your heart going, and you mind spinning. It's action picks up on page one and won't stop until the end.

When a group of kids calling themselves Storm, raid a medical facility in an effort to make a political statement about animal testing, they set off  a chain of events that will effect more people than they even think possible.

Odin Remby is among the teen members of Storm, who come off as more prepared than most special forces units. Odin is drawn to Strom by equal parts love for animals and fellow Storm member Rachel. The wicked combination of the girl he likes, and his slightly unbalanced mental state sends him running in headlong to the raid, working their computer mastermind. When the members of Storm scatter and Odin in in the wind, his sister Shay, knowing his somewhat fragile mental state have led to this, heads off to look for him and in the process end up on the run herself.

Though the writing style of UNCAED is a bit more complex than most Young Adult novels, it is still fluid – providing you with several POVs to follow. A full 360 view of of the events.   I recommend this novel for ages 16 and up because of the writing style, but feel that if you have a particularly advanced reader, other than mentions of animal testing now and again, this novel would be suitable for a 12-13 year olds.

I can't wait to see what comes next in 2015 with OUTRAGE from the fantastic writing team of John Sandford & Michelle Cook!
