Make room on your Favorite Books I've Ever Read shelf, because Jamie McGuire has done it again! All the things we love and expect from one of her novels, with the addition of an amazing curveball that will knock you off your seat. I'm desperate for more!

Happenstance: A Novella
Author: Jamie McGuire
Release Date: May 9th 2014

Rating: 5 Birds

#1 New York Times Bestseller Jamie McGuire returns to self-publishing with this page-turning YA account of Erin Easter, one of three Erins in the small senior class of rural Blackwell High School who not only share a first name, but also their birthday. Easter, raised by a neglectful single mom, keeps to herself and admires Weston Gates from afar. The other Erins, Erin "Alder" Alderman and Erin "Sonny" Masterson are the darlings of the community: daughters of the two wealthiest families in town, best friends, cheerleaders, and everything Easter isn't--and they never let her forget it. Alder has even claimed Weston since the 8th grade.

Weston is a well-liked star athlete, and the son of two prominent attorneys. He struggles daily with the pressures of living up to his family name and secretly empathizes with Easter's feeling that she belongs somewhere else; in a different life. Not until he begins sneaking nights out with Easter does he gain the courage to buck expectations and acknowledge his feelings ... both for his future, and for her.

A shocking tragedy rocks the tiny town, and Easter's life is turned upside down in the best way possible. But when the truth is revealed and everything she thinks she wanted falls into her lap, life only becomes more complicated.

I'm convinced that Jamie McGuire has some kind of magical power. She has too, there's literally no other explanation for how she packed all the detail, emotion, toe curling romance and jaw dropping drama of a full length novel, into a novella!

In HAPPENSTANCE we meet Erin Easter, one of three Erin's in her senior class – don't worry it's not confusing, we've got nic-names to avoid that! Erin's life quickly goes from drab and depressing, to filled with some intrigue when Weston, popular, good-looking, jock Weston, starts paying attention to her.

If I had been in Erin's Dairy Queen apron I would have seriously been wondering if someone was pulling a She's All That on me. You know, like the movie…from 1999? Please tell me you all know what I'm talking about….

Weston and Erin Easter's friendship grows, and changes must to the dismay and utter disgust of the other Erin's, the rest of the senior class and even Weston's parents.

But we know that the world ain't got nothing on a boy and girl who's love story is being penned by McGuire. Come hell, high water, terrible tragedy suffered by the whole town – some how, in some way their love will find a way.

I loved that the love story is in HAPPENSTANCE, but it's not really the main focus – it's not THE whole story. The curve ball plot twist McGuire hits you with half way through will leave your jaw on the ground. I suggest not eating during this part, I inhaled out of shock so hard I choked on a jelly bean.

A definite 5 Birds to this amazing novella that takes all those crazy day dreams you had in high school, and shows you what it would be like if your life was turned completely upside down by them all actually becoming a reality in a matter of hours.

HAPPENSTANCE is all the things you love about Jamie McGuire books, in convenient Novella packaging! Make sure you pre order your copy for only $2.99 NOW!
