She’s searching for answers to her past. They’re hunting her to save their future.
World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness. They've survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.
At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.
When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact. Everything was a lie.
Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she's trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past.

I'm still sitting here looking at this AFTER THE END wondering how in the world Amy Plum pulled it off. She took a bunch of genres, blended them all together and I'll be damned if it didn't work great!

We've got dystopian, science fiction, action/adventure, a little bit of romance and magic. Toss all that in the book blender and Wall-ah – you have AFTER THE END. It wasn't confusing or disjointed like you might worry it would be – it's actually totally seamless and perfectly blended.

Told in a dual POV between Juneau and Miles, who's lived in the real world his whole life, as opposed to Juneau who thought it had been wiped out in WWIII – you get a prefect balance of both sides. Miles POV was often hilarious as he tires his best to figure Juneau out. From what he sees she comes off as an escaped mental patient who prefers to camp illegally and kill her own dinner in national parks, and also has conversations with birds and bon fires. Miles has several lines that caused me to laugh out loud, you're going to love him!

AFTER THE END is a great first book in this series, and it definitely leaves you wanting more in the best way. I can't wait to see what's next for Juneau and Miles and her tribe in the next book!

  1. This sounds great! I love when a character gets to be funny!

  2. Man, I LOVE genre-blends. I've been seeing this everywhere, and I think I'm really going to have to read it.
