From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance—and the enchanting music that inspires one young woman to put her life back together.
At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.
Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

I’m sorry but this review will be slightly spoilerly. Not like “I’m going to ruin the whole book, including the ending” kind of thing. More “There’s just one thing I can’t not say in this review and while it’s revealed early on in the book, it’s not in the synopsis so to me that makes it a bit of a spoiler.”  You have been warned.

The strangest question popped into my mind the second I finished this book. I wondered what the conversation between Colleen and her friends or agent was like when she said “So I want to write a tortured love story, about a music major and a hot guy who plays guitar. Oh and BTdubs, he’s deaf.”

See, I do this when I read, because I also (attempt) at writing and spend a good deal of time fielding these kind of questions from my friends. I just know if I was on the receiving end of this particular question, I would have asked her to check her temperature. BUT OHMYSWEETJESUS did she ever take something that should by all accounts not  have worked and make it work, and WORK GOOD!

I read MAYBE SOMEDAY in one sitting. When I finally looked up at the clock, with only 50 pages left, it was 12:30 am and I had gone through a whole box of Kleenex (I’ve already charged Colleen Hoover for them). The tortured love story gets me every time. Wanting something that’s so close, but not being able to have it. I don’t care how many different ways you spin that plot I will want it every time. I will love it every time. There’s just something really extra freaking amazing about the way Colleen Hoover writes it.

MAYBE SOMEDAY perfectly plays out the times when life takes a sharp left when you signaled for a right. Those moments where you are certain your heart is secure where you’ve put it,  but with out you knowing it gets away from you.

Between a combination of lyric writing sessions, awkward roommate moments and 1000% honest conversations, the story of Sydney and Ridge will take you from the highest high to the lowest low, repeatedly. I cried. I’m pretty sure you will at least a little too. If you ever suffered heart break or uncertainty in love this novel will rip open that scar and root around in there with a salt covered ice pick. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating just a little bit – but it’s intense, have the tissues handy. I’m just saying is all…

The most fantastic thing about MAYBE SOMEDAY is that we don’t sit through lyric writing sessions with out getting the songs! This book has a SOUNDTRACK! An honest to goodness, made by a real musician and you can actually buy it SOUNDTRACK! Colleen teamed up with American Idol alum Griffin Preston to bring you the perfect compliment to this amazing book! Click that banner down there for more info and to hear some!

Wrapping up, I loved, loved, LOVED this book. It was a great way to loose my Hoover-inity. Yes, this was my very first time reading a Colleen Hoover novel! I’m just as shocked as you are, how the heck did it take me so long to pick up one of her books?! 2014 so far has turned out the be the year of the most amazing books for me.

Pre-Order it NOW!

  1. I cannot wait for this book! Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors. I'm not sure she could write a bad book if she tried. I'm so glsd you enjoyed the book! Great review! :)

    1. Thank you! I can't wait for you to read it, then I'll have people to talk to about it. It's the only downfall to reading ARCs...you're alone in it for a while...LOL

  2. Well I love this review, too!!! I might steal a quote or two from it for promo. ;) If that's okay.

    1. Take what you want! Please feel free to properly punctuate as well, if the need is there. Sometimes I get really excited when I write a review and throw all that stuff out the window...lol.

  3. Nice write-up! Being able to write creatively is something not all of us are capable of. Count yourself blessed because you have a talent. Getting into the mood in writing does not have a set of rules to follow. ‘To each his own’ is what people say; however, a list of suggestions wouldn’t hurt.tips on writing a book
