The Sense Thieves #2
Pages: 300
Publisher: Kensington Teen
Release Date: November 20th 2013
Rating: 4 Birds

She didn’t know how far she’d go—until she was pushed.
Remy O’Malley was just learning to harness her uncanny healing power when she discovered the other, darker half of her bloodline. Now she lives trapped between two worlds, uneasy among her fellow
Healers—and relentlessly hunted by the Protectors.
Forced to conceal her dual identity, and the presence of her Protector boyfriend Asher Blackwell, Remy encounters a shadow community of Healers who will put her loyalties to the test.
Pushed to the limit, with the lives of those she loves most on the line, Remy must decide whether to choose sides in a centuries-old war—or make the ultimate sacrifice and go to a place from which she may never return…

Oh the boys in this book are just unfair.  I always have a clear choice of who I want to the be main guy, regardless of what the main character thinks…but in PUSHED I just sit here while the two of them going all battle royal in my head for first place. Sometimes I forget I’m not actually them main character in a book when I’m reading, or clearly weeks after I have finished a book. We all have our things, and I don’t judge you…

PUSHED has way more than just a handful of hot guys in it, this killer new plot twist that gets tossed on you will throw you for a loop more than once. Creativity and general lack of concern for hurting her readers feelings doesn’t stop Corrine Jackson from putting the equivalent of a land mine around every corner. Oh yea, I cried. And when I mentioned it on Twitter I got the author-victory-laugh from Miss Jackson. You know the laugh I’m talking about, the one that confirms they do solely survive off our feels. I think maybe we should, just to save time, assume that all her books are going to drag you around emotionally and you should be prepared. And you are going to have a wicked twisted up heart after this book. You’re not going to know what hit you and there might even be some rage in there too – just depending on well you handle…things.

A few of my favorite things about this book:

I love how Remy’s past isn’t glossed over and the real emotional and physical damage she suffered is still very much at the surface with her. Too often we get the protagonist who’s suffered, then seems to bounce back with only a “this reminds me of (insert horrible torture here)”  and then we move on. With Remy you see it, you feel it. When someone moves too quickly she jumps immediately on guard. I loved that! It showed me how vulnerable she really was not matter how strong she came across.

I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery in this installment of the Sense Thieves series. When you’re look right, Corrine Jackson is going left setting up that next thing that’s going to make your jaw drop.

Only thing I can think that I didn’t one thousand percent love was that it spent a lot of time referencing the first book. In all second books you need a little bit of the book before it intertwined in to help jog the memory. Especially with a year between release dates! But I felt like the beginning quarter of this book focused on it just a little too much.
