They hear the most silent of footsteps.
They are faster than anything you've ever seen.
And They won't stop chasing you...until you are dead.
Amy is watching TV when it happens, when the world is attacked by Them. These vile creatures are rapidly devouring mankind. Most of the population is overtaken, but Amy manages to escape—and even rescue “Baby,” a toddler left behind in the chaos. Marooned in Amy’s house, the girls do everything they can to survive—and avoid Them at all costs.
After years of hiding, they are miraculously rescued and taken to New Hope, a colony of survivors living in a former government research compound. While at first the colony seems like a dream with plenty of food, safety, and shelter, New Hope slowly reveals that it is far from ideal. And Amy soon realizes that unless things change, she’ll lose Baby—and much more.
Rebellious, courageous, and tender, this unforgettable duo will have you on the edge of your seat as you tear through the pulse-pounding narrow escapes and horrifying twists of fate in this thrilling debut from author Demitria Lunetta.

A whole new take on the apocalypse comes your way in IN THE AFTER!

You’re expecting me to tell you this book is about zombies, aren’t you? I said “apocalypse” and the first thing that springs to mind are brain hungry, used-to-be, move at the pace of a shuffle, people. It’s not about zombies. [insert my wicked, wicked smile here]

In fact this book is so clever, it’s not even about what it makes you think it’s about at the beginning! Not entirely any way! I swear to you, I was blindsided left and right in IN THE AFTER, never once expecting what happened to actually happen. Now, you’re going to get some kind of typical “trying to survive” things, that’s a given. But the structure, the mystery and the simple fact that they have be completely silent 99% of the time to survive – well trust me when I say you’ve never read anything like this before!

IN THE AFTER is one of those books that’s been on my shelf awhile, pleading with me to read it. And I would smile and tell it, soon my friend, soon. But life gets busy and some bloggers know that while a book blog is generally for reviews, sometimes it’s really hard to find time to read when you are so busy with other things. I was elated when I had finally find the time to crack IN THE AFTER open and see what it had in store for me. And it was filled with the unexpected!

Intriguing me more than just it’s fantastic cover and it’s brilliant synopsis, is what author Demitria Lunetta wrote inside for me. She let me know that there was an Amber in this book, and she was sure I was much nicer than she was. I’m no neewb when it comes to knowing my name is associated with the hateful, snobby, bitchy and often times even trampy girls in books, TV and movies. Demitria doesn’t just take the fall of the free world to a new level, she takes the horribleness of girls named Amber in books to a whole new level as well. This Amber is so tricky, yet innocent at the same time, I’m almost proud to share my name with her.

One passage in particular left me and my husband laughing for 10 minutes easily, because while Demitria was kind enough to point out I was likely nothing like her Amber, this paragraph sure made it seem like I was…

What if Amber is more of a burden than a help? What if she never gets the hang of being quiet? What if she can’t deal, turns schizoid, and kills us in our sleep? I stop and take a breath. Amber doesn’t really seem like the murdering type.

If nothing else, that last line I need on a coffee mug, or a mouse pad – SOMETHING! Seriously! LOVE IT!

From the intro to a creature like nothing you’ve ever read about before, to the stunning world building and impeccable twisty, turn-y thrill ride that is IN THE AFTER, I promise you that you will not be disappointed in this book! Also as an added benefit to those who hate love triangles – NO LOVE TIANGLES! Not a one! This book is centered around survival and not the commonly found “Love after the World Ended” thing.

Coming in June is the conclusion to IN THE AFTER, IN THE END. I can’t wait to read it, I’m already twitchy with anticipation!!!
