Now that Nikki has rescued Jack, all she wants is to be with him and graduate high school. But Cole tricked Nikki into feeding off him, and she’s begun the process of turning into an Everliving herself... which means she must feed on a Forfeit soon — or die.
Terrified for her survival, Nikki and Jack begin a desperate attempt to reverse the process using any means possible. Even Cole, who they expected to fight them at every turn, has become an unlikely ally — but how long can it last? Nikki needs to feed on Cole to survive, Cole needs Nikki to gain the throne in the Everneath, Jack needs Nikki because she is everything to him — and together, they must travel back to the Underworld to undo Nikki’s fate and make her mortal once more. But Cole isn’t the only one with plans for Nikki: the Queen has not forgotten Nikki’s treachery, and she wants her destroyed for good. Will Nikki be forced to spend eternity in the Underworld, or does she have what it takes to bring down the Everneath once and for all?
In this stunning conclusion to the Everneath trilogy, Brodi Ashton evokes the resiliency of the human spirit and the indomitable power of true love.

Endings are a funny thing. We wait and wait for the final installment, dying to read it and when we have it, it’s actually rather upsetting. Needless to say I’m not very good with good-byes. Ask my friends about how I blubbered at the airport when leaving BEA last year, I’m just a pathetic mess when it comes to them. This, of course includes bookish good-byes.

If you’ve read books 1 and 2 in the Everneath Series (and I would expect you had since you are reading a review for the 3rd book) you know that Brodi Ashton is undeniably skilled at shocking and downright unbelievable twists. The kind that you wouldn't even see coming if they called ahead to announce themselves. After 2 books that left me mouth agape and heart pounding, I was determined to be ready this time. I would see it coming. I was going to be ready.

What actually ended up happening as I put this method of reading into effect, was I thought EVERYTHING that happened had a double meaning. I second guessed things, then third guessed them (Is that even a thing? Well is it now) I was so caught up in trying to figure out what was real and not real that I was STILL totally shocked when the twists happened. I could not, despite my best efforts, see around the preverbal corner and get a step ahead. Brodi Ashton is like a ninja. A soul crushing, shock and awe delivering ninja.

Things I can tell you about EVERTRUE

  • It picks up literally the second EVERBOUND ends, so if you are toying with the idea of re-reading it before you start EVERTRUE, the answer is yes, yes you should. And for those of you who read EVERBOUND, you’re probably going “THANK GOD!” , because that ending..day-um!
  • You will visit the EVERNEATH again.
  • Not everyone will make it to the end of the book.
  • Because of the last one, you might need kleenex handy.

Things I can’t tell you about EVERTURE

  • It’s so cute you thought I was actually going to list things here.

Well done Brodi Ashton, on writing books so emotionally and physically draining that I need a nap – for a week -  when I complete them. Well done to you on being the first person in God knows how long to trip me up, shock me and make me hate that I didn’t see that coming. And well done with how you wrapped up, what I can honestly say has been one of my all time favorite series. Endings are hard for the readers, but even more so for you and you did the characters, the world and your readers justice with every word! I can not wait to see what you come up with next, I’m emotionally preparing myself already. *wink*
