A plague of epic proportion sweeps the globe, leaving less than one percent of the world’s population immune. Among the living is Autumn Winters, the teenage daughter of a famous actress. When Autumn’s parents don’t come home and the city is overtaken by a dangerous faction, she goes into hiding with a small group of underground survivors. They’re led by a mysterious young man who harbors an unearthly secret, and with whom Autumn feels a deep connection.

Autumn Winters is the daughter of a famous actress and architect who is  left on her own to survive when the Crimson Fever takes over Earth.  Autumn is immune for some reason.  She begins think there is no one else is out there.  She manages to keep herself busy in the house she is in but she misses her mother, father and her best friend, Sarah who had succumbed to the Crimson Fever.   "Sarah and I were like puzzle pieces, complete opposites who just clicked (page 3)"  I loved this line in the book because it gave such a wonderful insight of her friend, Sarah.  Friendships are important!   I cannot  imagine being all alone with no one to depend on, can you? What would your reaction be?  Anyways, Autumn had enough supplies to last for a while because her father always bought in bulk.  Her home seemed to be a solid place.   I had the image of the Cullens' home from Twilight flashed in my mind when I read the description of her home for some odd reason. Perhaps you will get the same feel for it when you read it or perhaps not!

While being cooped up in her home, Autumn decides to go out after hearing a broadcast of survivors.  She ends up getting there as she gets a really bad vibe about the place.  It was like a spider man tingly sense going off in Autumn and the fact the main leader, Karl seemed very controlling.  As she runs for her life, she falls into the arms of a stranger named Grey (who Autumn learns of his name later) and Grey manages to keep her safe.  Somehow she gets back into her place with the help of Grey in a mysterious way. I'm not telling you how this goes down because I want you to be curious.   Autumn hoped that Grey staying with her, but he is not there as disappointment fell into her lap. I know I would be having the same reaction, wouldn't you?

Autumn is about to give up hope after being cooped up in her place again.  She decides to go out but she finds Ben and his kid sister, Rissi who is on a mission to find food and goods from the buildings that were below Autumn's home.  Together the trio become a family.  Ben seems to have a crush on Autumn but Autumn does not think of Ben that way.   The trio stay at Autumn's place for a while but supplies began to get low. Another trip out could be dangerous for Ben and Autumn due to a group that is trying to get others to come to their place.  As they head on out, crazy things begin to happen and Autumn somehow ends up away from Ben and falls into another adventure that you will not believe!

I do have to point out the guy named Grey is quite fascinating.  He is not what he seems to be.  He takes a gamble and tells Autumn of his secret.  At first Autumn thinks Grey is pulling her leg.  Grey kept on insisting his secret is real and then shows her which made Autumn believe him.  Other than revealing his big secret to her, he also tells her of one more thing which her feelings for Grey falls upon the fence.  Are you pondering what Grey's secret is?  It could be a number of things.  I had a hunch it was a supernatural element, but boy I was wrong.  It shocked me and me me want to know more.

If you like the end of the world stories with a twists here and there, then you need to get this book.  You will not regret reading Autumn in the City of Angels.  This book was so good, I'm ready for the second book. Go get it today.
