You Get What You Pay For
A Short Story

When the soft knocking sounded at the door, Adam literally jumped, dreading as well as expecting it. Panicked, he briefly considered ignoring the gentle rapping and scrapping the whole idea. Instead, he took a deep breath, licked his lips and ran his hands down the front of his suit, smoothing out non-existent wrinkles while drying sweaty palms. He went to the door and opened it.

“Get the best hooker that money can buy and go out in a blaze of glory," was the advice of a friend. So, Adam did. And that blaze of glory was Gabriella Marguerite Duchene...

John C Laird - Four Minutes cover

A serial killer had gone undetected for ten years, claiming nineteen victims in six states. His killing spree might have continued, except for a rather unusual four minutes...

“He maintained his hold for several more seconds, breathing heavily, his heart pounding like a trip-hammer, the exhilaration of the kill coursing through him like a wildly addictive drug. With an effort, he continued to bring his lethal excitement under control. He only had a few minutes, and he never wanted to miss this part.”
