The Montauk Project has been experimenting with time travel for years. The Project's subjects are "recruits" from across time, recruits like Wes, Lyida's ally, friend, and love.

The Project is now responsible for the disappearance of two members of her family.

The conspiracy theories were right about the Montauk Project all along. In this sequel to So Close to You, they're coming for Lydia next.

Another amazing and stunning cover landed into my hands! I had this big smile on my face when I pulled out the book out of the package. This book is the sequel to Rachel Carter's first book 'So Close to You.' I have been waiting for this book for a while. I immediately began to read. I had to know what was going to happen to Lydia Bentley next.

Before we start, I need to mention what the first book, So Close to You , was about. A girl named Lydia Bentley is trying to find out why some family members are disappearing. She thinks it has to do with the Montauk Project. She find out that the government is involved with time traveling. Time traveling does take place and adventure beckons for Lydia as she meets up with Wes. Now as we move onto the second book, This Strange and Familiar Place, it begins with Lydia at living at home, but things are different due to the fact she went back in time and changed her timeline. Does she live out the life she lives or does something happen?

I was immersed into Lydia's world and felt bad for her as she had to adjust to many things. Since her timeline was disrupted, things were not the same. Physically Lydia is fine but emotional she is not. Lydia misses Wes and longs for him. Her parents are not the same as she remembers. She misses her grandfather as you can read in the book. She does her best to put on facade with her parents and friends. Can she continue to do this?

Wes shows up and Lydia manages to talk Wes into trying to figure out the main problem which includes time traveling again. The main problem was trying to find out more about Lydia's great grandfather disappearance in 1944. Another adventure is set for Wes and Lydia! You get to feel more of the relationship between Wes and Lydia. Wes is dark, quiet and hard as where Lydia is the opposite; soft, light and hopeful. I enjoyed seeing the playfulness they have together as well as their thoughts on things. Lydia always keeps Wes going no matter what. They have that spark there, but will that spark keep them going or will it burn out?

The world that Carter creates is fascinating. You get a feel for 2012 and also you get a feel for 1989 where Wes and Lydia time travel to to work on the mission. During the mission, Lydia gets to know a bit more of Wes's background. Since they are in the year of 1989, the one thing that popped out at me was that the Twin Towers were mentioned and gave a tug at my heart. It was interesting to see how 1989 was portrayed in this book. There is more to this adventure than meets the eye. There are twists and turns that totally caught me off guard. I gasp and almost yelled "No" to the story. I am not giving everything away because this is an arc and it is a must read!

The book does leave you hanging for another sequel! I hope Rachel Carter does do a third installment of this series. I have to know what happens with Lydia and Wes as well as figuring out the main problem of Lydia's great grandfather. If you like time traveling and mystery and romance, then this book is for you. You will not regret reading this amazing story. If you are type of reader that loves gorgeous covers, then this one should be in your collection. One thing more, if you do purchase this book, you do need to read the first book as well!
