Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.
In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees. Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

I can sum up this book in one beautiful graphic I found on Tumblr*tumblr_mjm22goG8o1rvasydo1_500

When I read BEAUTIFUL DISASTER, and saw things through Abby’s eyes, I fell in love with the dysfunction, struggle, and mystery that is Travis Maddox. As a reader I immediately became the pathetic, puppy dog eyed girl that would follow him around campus hoping for a glance, a smile or maybe even a conversation with him. And if I was really lucky, a trip to that couch. *bom chikka wow wow*MjAxMy0yZWQ3ZjY4Nzk4NDUwYTEx

When I read WALKING DISASTER, things changed at bit for me. I found myself almost frustrated with Travis as he pined, whined, and went loco boyfriend over Abby, and I saw it through his eyes instead. It was like that rough and tumble exterior that I longed for, and the mysterious veil it provided had been chipped away, and I was left with this sad little boy.

It took only a few chapters for me to really appreciate the brilliance of this. As an author, Jamie McGuire did exactly what she needed to do to make his meltdowns and emotions unbelievably real. You see, I had this misconception that he was perfect (in his own way), that there wasn’t much more to him than what I saw in BEAUTIFUL DISASTER, and I couldn't have been more wrong.

There’s a depth to him that you witness that will change your out look on him. And if you thought the breakups, and walk always were hard for Abby, to see them from his POV will destroy you. WALKING DISASTER lets you really fall in love with him 100%, his faults, his accomplishments, his desires.

tumblr_m6b8dwDIDw1r31szhMcGuire will trap you from page one, with a prologue that takes place with Travis as a child, during the time his mother is dying. Jamie McGuire should have an award for most heart-breakingly relevant opening to a book. Ever. The End. I needed a break after that chapter, and I’m not even kidding.

On the flip side of all this love for WALKING DISASTER, there were a few things that I was disappointed in. They were few and far between, but still there. Firstly, some of those heart-stopping, tow curling, hot and heavy scenes are cut short or not there at all, just mentioned as an after thought. There’s enough to satisfy you, so don’t worry it’s not missing entirely. And I do understand why some of the ones I was looking for, maybe didn’t :make it off the couch”. Also, the epilogue. Parts of it felt so far fetched and out there, it was hard to connect with it entirely. While I loved seeing so far into the future, a few parts just didn’t gel with me.

All in all, I adored this book. I’m more than grateful to have been on this tour and Jamie’s is getting a giant hug from me at BEA! I haven’t found many books in my life that I will read over, and over again and the Beautiful Series has made it to that list! I can’t wait to see what comes next, according to her website there’s 2 more books coming from the point of views of Trent and Thomas, Travis’ brother's. Maybe when I read these, the epilogue from WALKING DISASTER won’t feel so “out-there” for me.

  4. I cannot wait to read this one! I loved the twist in Beautiful Disaster where we find out more about Abby. I also loved that on the outside Travis is a bad boy, but he is actually vulnerable on the inside.

  6. I love when she does really well on her test and he carries her away saying something like "make way, this woman has a ginormously huge brain" it always makes me laugh

  7. Don't judge me because of this answer but... I really loved how Travis's love for Abby somehow changed him into becoming a better person. Even though the whole prose of "bad boy falls in love with good girl" isn't that original of a concept, if done correctly... it can be such a phenomenal idea!!

  8. It's really hard for me to describe in complete sentences and make any sense about why I love Beautiful Disaster. My thoughts are basically like a teenage girl's, all omgs! and squeals.

I get this way with all books that touch me and leave me with a lasting impression. It's just that it somehow manages to connect with me in a way that leaves me without and rational capabilities to describe why. It really sounds like a cop out, but it's the honest to God truth! Lol.
