She’s sixteen. He’s seventeen. They don’t know each other…at least not yet.

She has a secret and her whole life revolves around keeping it. Every few months and with little warning, she simply disappears, pulled into the past for hours or even days. She’s terrified it will happen in front of someone, changing her life forever. So far, the only witnesses have been her parents, and that didn’t end well. She has no control over it and no idea why it happens to her. She wants answers.

He has answers—at least he understands what’s going on. He has a secret, too. He’s part of an organization that goes back in time to rewrite reality. But he also has a problem. He broke the organization’s number-one rule by altering his own timeline. As punishment, he’s been blocked from time travel, which is most unfortunate. Because the changes he made to his timeline, accidentally resulted in disaster for his family. A disaster he’s now prevented from repairing. No one can travel beneath the organization’s radar except a Shadow. But they’re rare, so rare he’s never even met one.

Then he moves to her town.

Reading this book was quite an adventure!  What grabbed me about this story was the fact of altering time. Anything to do with time travel seems to fascinate me so this booked jumped out at me.   The story was told from A.J.'s, who's name is Autumn and Constantine's POV.  They are both rather unique characters.  I enjoyed their POV since you could easily feel and understand what was going on with them.  The chapters are short and keeps you wanting to read of what is going to happen next.

A.J.'s story is harrowing.  She lost her mother at a young age and her father had to deal with her.  On top of losing her mom, she shimmers and does not know why she does this.  I can only imagine the emotional toll this takes on her. All she knows she is connected to her tree house which makes her feel better and calmer.  She hides herself since she does not want the world to know that she shimmers.  The only people know is her father and her two best friends, iPod and Lex.  I love the connection A.J. has with her two friends.  They really help each other out.  It's all about being a family to me.

Things are all normal for A.J. until Constantine comes into the picture.  There is a huge burst of energy that seems to hit A.J. and it is quite a handful for her handle at first.  Once she adjusts, she's a tad curious where it came from. I  love her curiosity and how her friends also jump on the bandwagon to help her as well.   As you read more and more into this story, you'll like the adventure that A.J. goes on and she learns exactly what she is from Constantine.

Constantine enters the picture as he has his own tragedy to deal with in his family as his brother cannot walk.  His brother takes it out on the family as it gets worse and worse.   HIs parents try their best!  Another emotional toll here.  I love how to see people react to certain events.  Everyone reacts differently.  With the emotional baggage Constantine has, he was caught off guard when finding about A.J.  Once he realizes what she is,he thinks she could help him.  A plan forms in his mind as at first I thought was kind of selfish to do but once he got to know A.J. and things, he changes his mind on a few things.  Does his plan go the way he wants it to or no?

The attraction between Constantine and A.J. is kind of cool because it's a sweet romance.    I think for A.J. it's nice to find someone else like her since she had no clue what she was.  A.J. (Autumn) really connects with Constantine.  Attraction can happen in all types of forms.   So why not have them like each other  a great deal?  The way the author writes with these two is great!

There is loss, friendship, romance, high school drama, bullying and family issues through out this book with the fact there is supernatural element involved.  That's quite a handful of things in this book.   Each issue is handled differently.   Some you can identify with and some you may not.  If you like the way the issues was handled then great, if not, then that's how it goes in life.  I think all the issues were handled nicely.

After I finished reading this book, I glanced at the cover more as it hit me and I saw the immediate connection!  The cover really fits with this story and it is quite stunning.  This story was quite an adventure to me. I loved it the connection with the trees!  It was beautiful.  If you are looking for something unique, then this book is for you!  I look forward more from this author.
