THE GODDESS LEGACY
The Goddess Test #2.5
Goodreads, Amazon, B&N, Indiebound

For millennia we’ve caught only glimpses of the lives and loves of the gods and goddesses on Olympus. Now Aimée Carter pulls back the curtain on how they became the powerful, petty, loving and dangerous immortals that Kate Winters knows.
Calliope/Hera represented constancy and yet had a husband who never matched her faithfulness….

Ava/Aphrodite was the goddess of love and yet commitment was a totally different deal….

Persephone was urged to marry one man, yet longed for another….

James/Hermes loved to make trouble for others-but never knew true loss before….

Henry/Hades’s solitary existence had grown too wearisome to continue. But meeting Kate Winters gave him a new hope….
Five original novellas of love, loss and longing and the will to survive throughout the ages.

Since I've read the other two books of Aimee Carter in the series of the Goddess Test, I am now tackling this new book.  This book consists of short stories of the gods and goddess point of view of what is going on in their lives.   You get a glimpse of what they go through and those events shapes them to who they are.  I love this.  Just to see how they react to events, make you think that they have feelings.

The Goddess Queen is the first story in this book that I was chosen to read.  I sat down with the book and slowly began reading. I was thrown into the world of Hera/Calliope, a woman who knew what she wanted. A woman who knows what she wants comes off to me as a powerful woman.   What she wanted an equal partner, and a place in the family.  Who does not want that?  Everyone wants to feel like they belong in a family.  An equal partner in everything!  Everyone dreams of sharing their life, ideas and love with someone as an equal.   Hera/Calliope seemed to harbor some feelings towards Hades but somehow she ends up with Zeus.  The way Zeus treated Calliope/Hera made me a bit pissed off since all she wanted was to be equal, to be loved and to be happy.  Zeus should have known better that Hera/Calliope took marriage seriously. It was obviously he had his weaknesses.  Calliope/Hera should have also listened to the warnings that her sister and brother told her as well.

It was nice to see a before and after of the changes that Hera/Calliope went through.  I think seeing this gives you more of an idea how  Of course everything Calliope/Hera went through made her bitter and ruthless.  I honestly think she still should not have treated Kate the way she did.  She probably did due to result of what she went through with life, pride, love, marriage and friendship on the matters of Hades and Zeus.  (Kate is a character from the previous books: The Goddess Test: Goddess Test 1 and Goddess Interrupted: Goddess Test 2.)

Here's a quote from Hercules: the  Legendary Journeys/Xena Warrior Princess (tv Show)

"From the moment Zeus and I created mortals I've spent my time hating them for the infidelities he shared with them. But once I forgave him, I realized that humanity is the only creation I am truly proud of."

-Hera in God Fearing Child"

This seemed to hit pretty close to what Aimee Carter had in the short story on the matters of Hera/Calliope.  I will admit I did watch Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: the Warrior Princess when it was on air.  It was one of my favorite shows

  37. This is the perfect book to hold one waiting to read the next book in The Goddess Test Series over. The five novellas that make up The Goddess Legacy give you background information about some of the minor characters that help one to understand them much better. It also gives some insight into their minds of what they were thinking instead of Kate's point of view.
