{Top Ten Tuesday} #28

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. It was created because of their love of lists, and I myself love lists as well - so you will see it frequently popping up on MMSAI, although admittedly we have not done them in a while – let me tell you, we are happy to be back at it!

Everyone is welcome to join in, and don't worry if you can't think of 10 - just do as many as you can. And of course, be sure to link back to TBATB (and leave me a link here too!) on your post!
As always they are in no particular order
This Weeks Topic is:
Top Ten Books For People Who Liked DIVERGENT by Veronica Roth

So I’m taking this a weeks list little vaguely. I am going to pick 10 books I think you would like if you liked DIVERGENT – NOW….please note I’m not saying “these books are exactly like” Divergent…some readers get all up in arms about stuff like this. All I’m saying is, I think if you liked that book, plot, or writing style, and so forth, you may also like these…

1. The Forrest of Hands and Teeth Series by Carrie RyanI pick these because of the awesome dystopian setting that Carrie Ryan creates. TFOHAT is a 3 book series, complete with zombies, romance and a whole lot of kick ass action.

94130442. Everneath by Brodi Ashton – this one lands on the list for the romance factor. It’s safe to say that one of the key components to loving DIVERGENT is the relationship between Tris and Four. No relationship in a book relationship even comes close to that of Tris and Four’s for me, except that in EVERNEATH. I won’t say any more, as I don’t want to spoil anything for you.
3. The Maze Runner Series by James DashnerThis one for the action! Both have phenomenal dystopian settings but they also share hard decisions and the fight against a higher power.

124768204. The Partials Series by Dan WellsAgain we have a fantastic dystopian world, this one is set in what was New York, whereas DIVERGENT is set in what was Chicago. PARTIALS has a sci-fi twist that I didn’t expect to like, let alone love. A strong female protag and countless twists and turns filled with suspense. I dare you not to like this book.
5. Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts – The world has JUST come to a screeching halt and people are turning against each other in unthinkable ways. By following 4 separate POV’s throughout, we get to travel across the United States in it’s post-apocalyptic state.

85255906. The Checmical Garden Series by Lauren DeStefano – Tris feels trapped in her world, in her role. Times that by having to marry someone you don’t know, by force. The have his children, and then find out there’s something even more sinister going on, and you have The Chemical Garden Series by Lauren DeStefano!

7. Angelfall by Susan Ee – okay, post-apocalyptic BUT not because of plague, or nuclear war….but because the angels of the apocalypse has descended to fight their battle here and take over. And these are NOT the angles you read about, they are spiteful, greedy and in a lot of cases DAMN HOT! Before you write this one off because “you’re done with Angel books” I beg you to try it out. I really don’t like angle books and this one is SO not a typical angel book. In fact sometimes you forget it’s about angels at all – it’s SO good! And not religious. High humor, snarky come backs, hot guys, jaw dropping action….convinced yet?

472818. Number The Stars by Lois Lowery – Woah, hello left field…right? Let me explain. In DIVERGENT Tris is trapped, forced to be a certain way, until a certain time, to pretend. Well welcome to a story about a girl who has the same issues, but in 1943 Denmark in the middle of a war, where she must pretend to be someone she is not simply to survive. This is by far one of my most favorite books from childhood. It’s a quick read, and I know you’ll love it if you pick it up.

I’m sorry I didn’t make ti to ten guys, I am sure that I could have but I didn’t want to repeat myself too much and bore you to death. Enjoy my list of books above and if you have one you’d like to throw out there for everyone to consider, that you think is like DIVERGENT – the comments section is below!
As always, thank you for stopping in and leave me a link to your TTT so I can stop in!

  1. Great list! I can't wait to get a copy of The Forrest of Hands and Teeth! :)

    Top Ten Tuesday

  2. I'd add (of course) Hunger Games (is that too obvious?!) and Across the Universe.

    Here's my
    Top Ten.
I hope you will stop by!

    1. I haven't yet read Across The Universe, it's on my TBR though!

As for THG - like I mentioned I could have kept going but really "it's dystopian and she fights" was going to start to bore people. I tried to find books that were a little "off the rocker" for this one. It's simple enough to say "If you like Divergent you'll like all dystopian". I think THG is a given for everyone - but yes it definitely would fit on this list nicely :) Thanks for stopping in!!!

    Ah, DIVERGENT. So damn good.

I'm doing a Read-a-Long in July for Partials! Super excited! & I LOVE Number the Stars from when I was little, lol.

Top Ten If You Loved DELIRIUM

  4. I loved Divergent!! Thanks for the recommendations! I definitely plan on reading Partials and Wither!! :)

  5. I loved Everneath! I haven't read Divergent, but it is on my ever growing TBR pile. Great List!!

  8. Partials, Wither & Maze Runner are all sitting on my shelf waiting to be read.

TFHT is a most awesome series & recommendation.

    Great List.
