Tough, brainy alchemist Sydney Sage and doe-eyed Moroi princess Jill Dragomir are in hiding at a human boarding school in the sunny, glamorous world of Palm Springs, California. The students--children of the wealthy and powerful--carry on with their lives in blissful ignorance, while Sydney, Jill, Eddie, and Adrian must do everything in their power to keep their secret safe. But with forbidden romances, unexpected spirit bonds, and the threat of Strigoi moving ever closer, hiding the truth is harder than anyone thought.

I finished this book in one day and then I wanted to throw my Kindle against the wall, I loved it that much! This book is better than the first one in the series and made me love Adrian even more if that is possible. I don’t want to spoil the first book if you haven’t read it (see review here) but the cliffhanger of an ending is nothing compared to the ending of The Golden Lily.

Sydney loosens up some in this book and her interaction with other characters is greatness. Angeline adds to the second book making me laugh because I wasn’t too sure how she would fit in to the new school given her background. Adrian is pretty awesome and his and Sydney’s relationship is or could be epic. Mead gave the reader more of an insight as to the character of Adrian and gives Sydney a glimpse to show the two are not so different. Team Adrian!! (sorry had to throw that in there) Now the central reason everyone is in Palm Springs is Jill so I cannot leave her out of my review because she grows up in this novel and begins to think about who she is and the responsibilities that entails.

I suggest not starting this book late at night like I did and then having to stay up to finish because it is too good to put down. The plot is never boring and just when you think you’ve got things figured out a curveball changes everything.

I completely recommend this book to everyone! The third book in the series The Indigo Spell is set to be released in the U.S. February 12, 2012 and I can’t wait!! I did learn that if you purchase this book at Wal-Mart the first chapter of The Indigo Spell is included.

  3. Freaking love this book :D I hope the issues at the end of the book is resolved in the next one! :D
I also hope that Sydney is not as annoyingly naive in the next one. Gosh, I wanted to smack her too many times.
