Piper, Cassidy, Mei, and Izzy have been best friends their whole lives. And they've always agreed on one goal: to get out of tiny Paris, Texas, and see the world. The school's foreign exchange program seems like the perfect escape: Piper will go to the original Paris; Mei will go to China; Cassidy will go to Australia; and Izzy, unable to afford the program, will stay at home. To add spice to their semester away, and to stay connected to their best friends, the girls start The International Kissing Club, a Facebook page where they can anonymously update one another and brag about all the amazing guys they're meeting. After all, these girls are traveling abroad: amazing guys abound at every turn! But sometimes fun, flirty vacation flings turn into more serious romances, and sometimes you don't return from abroad the same person you were. Will the girls' relationships-and their friendships-be able to survive?

My take: Little high school drama, mixed with four kind of catty but awesome girls, mixed with an international theme.  What do you get?  The makings for a pretty cool read.

The beginning of the book is all about these four girls who have lived in the same place for their entire lives…well three of them have, the other joined when she was a little bit older.  They’re all high school juniors wanting to get out and run away from their problems of small town Paris, TX.

So what better way to do it then go study abroad for a ten week program right?  The girls make this pact to become what’s known as The International Kissing Club,or IKC for short…and even made a facebook page for it.  Low and behold, they don’t want people to know their true identities so they all end up choosing a nickname. Nicknames?  They’re Disney princesses!  Kind of cool if you ask me.  Who wouldn’t want to be one?

So the girls end up going off to their separate “corners” of the world…except for Izzy who has to stay behind…where they each traverse through their own adventures, mishaps, and let downs.  Each girl is something totally different from the other, so seeing these girls at their peak during the book was really fun, and definitely not off-putting for a change.

I give this book a solid 4 bird rating because it’s filled with everything you’d expect to find in a high school drama, and more.  Great job to writers (you’ll see if you click a link) Ivy Adams on this one!

  1. It doesn't sound like the typical gossip girl novel, and boy am I sick of those. Will definitely be giving this a try someday!
