Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
My dear friend Jen at Fictitious Delicious Book Blog lent me this book and I devoured it in a day! I refused to put it down. I even turned down having a glass of wine with a friend on Friday night because I was far too caught up in the social life of Mara Dyer to give two flying hee-haws about my own. Yea, the book is that good.
First things first: Quite possibly the most quotable book I have read in a LOOOONG time. I laughed, I cried, I took notes and hope to make t-shirts! A few notable ones that I love the most:
“I had grand plans for the day. Hookers & blow aren't cheap, but I suppose animal sacrifice will have to do” – Noah
"I'd hit that so hard whoever pulled me out would become the king of England” – random school mate
“If I had known it was Trite Proverb Day, I would have stayed home” – Mara
Mara is a gem, she’s everything a teenaged girl wondering if she’s going fully nutso should be. And then some! And then of course we have Noah…oh for Gods Sake NOAH! I’m actually happy to reread this novel just for the simple pleasure of being in his fictional company for another day. *contented sigh*
Mara Dyer is not just a book with the boy with the pretty face, no no no! It’s a multi-layered masterpiece of epic proportions. It’s a twisty (and sometimes twisted..) suspenseful story that will get you thinking and make you put the pieces together. My favorite kind of book!!!
There were a few bits that needed extra explaining, like…the end of the book (sequel? Does Michelle stink at endings? LOL We may never know…..lol) BUT I have heard that there are parts, maybe the end…(?) that has explanations worked into it in the finished copies being sold. For those of you unaware, ARC’s are uncorrected proofs and can from time to time be edited before going to print. I’ve tweeted Michelle for an answer to this and will let you all know, when I know. :0)
Until then, buy it because even with the bits that weren’t my favorite, the rest totally makes up for it. I double dog dare you not to like this novel!
I am currently sending subliminal messages to you through this post to go buy the book yourself.
